CMD Coatings faced the challenge of safely decommissioning an aircraft with precision and efficiency. Farsight's solution was to produce a detailed timelapse video, capturing each phase of the dismantling process. The result showcases CMD Coatings' expertise in aviation decommissioning, providing a visually engaging tool to attract future clients and demonstrate their industry capabilities.

The primary goals were to create an engaging and visually compelling timelapse video that showcased CMD Coatings' expertise in the meticulous process of plane decommissioning. The video aimed to emphasise the company’s capabilities in safely dismantling aircraft and position CMD Coatings as a trusted specialist in the industry.

Specific objectives included:

  • Increase Brand Visibility: Highlight CMD Coatings’ specialised services, reaching a broader audience and showcasing their expertise through social media and digital platforms.
  • Attract New Clients: Use the video to engage potential clients interested in decommissioning services, driving inquiries and establishing CMD Coatings as an industry leader.
  • Demonstrate Precision and Care: Capture the intricate process of dismantling each part of the aircraft, illustrating CMD Coatings' commitment to quality and safety.
  • Create Versatile Content: Develop a high-quality video that can be shared across various platforms, enhancing CMD Coatings’ marketing efforts and online presence.

The creative process for CMD Coatings’ plane decommissioning video began with an in-depth discussion to understand the client’s goals and the technical aspects of the decommissioning process. From there, we mapped out the stages of dismantling and highlighted each key moment, focusing on precision and safety.

Given the technical nature of the project, the approach was to capture a timelapse that would tell the story visually without requiring a scripted narrative. This involved planning camera angles to showcase each phase of the process and ensure smooth transitions throughout the timelapse. The filming emphasised attention to detail, positioning CMD Coatings as experts in handling complex decommissioning tasks.

The result was a captivating, story-driven timelapse that effectively highlighted CMD Coatings’ meticulous work, making a technical process accessible and engaging for a broad audience.

The production process required additional preparation to accommodate outdoor filming in Aberdeen. All cameras were secured with waterproof materials to protect against weather changes, ensuring uninterrupted footage throughout the decommissioning process. Given the full-day shoot, we also set up a reliable battery support system for each camera, allowing for continuous timelapse capture without power interruptions.

This attention to logistical details allowed our team to capture the entire decommissioning process smoothly, delivering a seamless, high-quality timelapse that showcases CMD Coatings' expertise, regardless of outdoor conditions.

The campaign successfully met CMD Coatings' objectives by delivering a captivating timelapse video that highlights their expertise in the intricate process of plane decommissioning. By documenting each step with precision, the video addressed the client’s challenge of showcasing their technical skills to potential clients in a visually engaging way.

The video has since received positive responses on social media, driving traffic to CMD Coatings’ online platforms and increasing brand visibility within the industrial and aviation sectors. This project not only highlighted CMD Coatings’ capabilities but also positioned them as a trusted, skilled partner in the field of aircraft decommissioning, achieving the initial goal of attracting new clients and reinforcing CMD Coatings' industry reputation.
